Payment Options
A bill for electric service will be mailed to each member-consumer on or about the 10th of each month and due upon receipt. The bill becomes delinquent twenty days after the 10th of each month (about the last day of the month) and a late payment charge will be applied. If the 20th day after the 10th of the month lands on a Saturday, Sunday or legal holiday, an additional working day will be allowed without a late payment charge. The late payment charge will be calculated as 1.5% of the unpaid balance. Each member-consumer shall be granted one complete forgiveness of a late payment charge per calendar year. The methods of payment we accept are as follows:
Automatic Bill Payment or ACH Payments
Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative offers our member-consumers the Automatic Payment Plan. You can have your payment made automatically from your checking or savings account.
Payments under the Automatic Bill Payment Option are processed on the 20th of each month. If the 20th falls on Saturday, Sunday, or Major Holiday it will be processed on the following business day. Member-consumers have the right to stop payment of charge by notifying the Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative NO LESS than 30 days prior to discontinuing the Automatic Bill Payment Option. In the event that you change bank accounts, please notify the Cooperative before the 1st of each month. This time is needed to make changes with our Automated Clearing House (ACH). All bank fees incurred by the Cooperative as a result of closed accounts or insufficient funds will be charged to the member.
Print it out, fill it out, sign and mail it back to us. Be sure to include a voided check with the request.
Budget Billing
Your electric bill as you know will vary each month depending on weather conditions, the number of electric appliances you use and many other factors.
The budget billing plan also referred to as "Level Payment Plan" allows you to pay a fixed amount each month thereby making it easier to plan your monthly expenses. Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative offers our member-consumers the Level Payment Plan for those who qualify (under our guidelines as stated in the Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative Tariff) and would like the convenience of a level payment each month. This service is based on your past 12 month's usage. Periodic reviews are conducted to insure that payments are adequate to cover usage and costs. These reviews also reduce the possibility of a large debit or credit balance. Please contact us by calling 712-472-2506 or by email to find out more information regarding budget billing.
Mail or Drop Off Your Payment
If you do not want to utilize one of our time and money saving payment methods you can mail or drop off your payment at our office. We also have pre addressed envelopes available at the Cooperative Office for your convenience as well.
