Energy Alert & Power Outages

February 18, 2021 - 10:00AM -  SPP is no longer under emergency energy alert (EEA).  L & O is moving  load management to normal operations.  However, due to continuing high loads and other severe cold weather implications, SPP remains in a period of conservative operations until 10 p.m. Central time, Feb. 20, for the entire SPP balancing authority area.

Our transmission provider, Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) has issued an energy emergency alert.  We may experience an interruption of electric service on a rolling basis.  Thank you for your patience and check back here or our Facebook page for updates.

We urge electric cooperative members to conserve energy to help reduce the power demands during this time.  The effects of widespread and extreme cold conditions have led to tightening conditions across a large portion of the country.

Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative is committed to delivering electrical power, to our members, that is reliable, affordable, safe, and environmentally responsible.

At Lyon Rural Electric Cooperative, we focus on the best possible service at the lowest possible cost to our members in Iowa. And why wouldn't we - our members are also our owners. We supply electricity to a wide variety of commercial, industrial, agricultural and residential locations within our community. Yes, it is our community too, and we care about our community and the people in it. Remember electricity is clean, safe, and reliable.

If you are having difficulty paying your electric bill in full or on time, please contact us at (712)472-2506 or (800)658-3976.  We can set up payment arrangements to avoid late fees or possible disconnection for non payment.

BEWARE of Scams

Recently, a nearby Coop was alerted by a member that an unmarked vehicle, with 2 would-be scammers, stopped and demanded payment or their service would be disconnected.  Please Note: Lyon REC employees will always be in a clearly identifiable vehicle and we will never come to your home and demand payment.  Always call our office at 712-472-2506 to verify suspicious billing claims.
